ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for registering a Co-operative Society in person, the applicant has to visit the office of the National Civil Registration.
  2. The address and contact details of the office can be found in the “Office Locations & contacts” section of this page.
  3. Visit the office with an application made by a responsible person for obtaining registration as a Co-operative society.
  4. Approach the relevant authority and ask for the respective procedure to submit the application.
  5. Registration fee should be paid before submitting the application and the proof of the payment should be attached with the application form.
  6. Also attach the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page, with the application.
  7. Now, submit the whole package to the Director General of Co-operative Society who will put into required assessment processes.
  8. After completing the assessment, if the documents are found in order and provided information is found satisfactory, a Recognition Letter will be issued with three years validity.
  9. Certificate of registration with a Certified copy of the by-laws will be issued only after the three years of observatory period.

EligibilityEdit

  • Members of a co-operative society must be at least 15 years of age or more.
  • The Board members’ minimum age constraint is eighteen years.
  • There should be a common need within the members of the society.
  • In case of a Primary society, each member should possess an occupation related to that society.
  • Members must be financially capable for investing in shares and paying fees.

InstructionsEdit

  • In case of a primary society, the application must have signed by at least ten individuals who are eligible for the society’s membership.
  • In case of secondary societies with a registered society as member, it should be signed by a duly authorized member on behalf of every such registered Society.
  • In secondary societies with some registered societies as members, the form should be signed by at least members and if the number of members is less than ten, all members should attest the form.
