Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for a Roadworthiness Certificate in person, the applicant has to visit the nearest Vehicle Licensing Office or testing station in his/her state.
2. The contact and address details of the approved Vehicle Licensing Offices for each state in Nigeria can be found in the following page: Link
3. Visit the Vehicle Licensing Office with all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
4. Obtain the application for certificate of roadworthiness (ACR) form from the concerned department and complete it with required information under relevant sections.
5. Complete the application form(s) as required and attach the required documents with the completed form(s).
6. Submit the form(s) and documents to the concerned authority at the office for further verification processes.
7. Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the vehicle will be tested for its Roadworthiness.
8. If the vehicle satisfied the conditions for the Roadworthiness, the officials will proceed to issue the certificate.
9. When it is ready to be collected, the applicant will be informed and asked to collect the document by any applicable means.

Eligibility

• The vehicle to be tested should be registered already and the applicant should have the Certificate of the vehicle Registration.
• Any person possessing a valid South African Identity document and a motor vehicle used for public transport or transporting heavy loads (except buses), can apply.

• Applicants are advised to complete the application form neatly and completely with absolute legibility and appropriateness to avoid rejections. Also, all the required documents must be furnished completely.
