Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for a Satellite Broadcasting license in person, the applicant has to first make a request to the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission.
2. The office addresses of Directorates can be found in the following address link
3. Visit the office and lodge the request to the Director General for approval to purchase an application form.
4. When the request is approved, the applicant will be instructed to purchase the application form with respect to the category of license.
5. The applicant has to obtain the application form from the office after paying the cost of the application and complete it with required information.
6. After completing, attach the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this pageand submit it at the Director General’s office.
7. Then, the application would be processed and if found to be in conformity with the requirements of the NBC Act, are recommended to the President, Commander-in-Chief through the Honourable Minister of Information & Culture.
8. When the license document is ready to be collected, the applicant will be sent a notification from the office through email or phone number and the applicant can collect it by themselves or arrange a courier service for collection.
9. After the issue of license, the applicant should pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.

Eligibility

• Any organization or enterprise, that wishes to involve in Satellite Broadcasting, is eligible for the license.
• Any responsible person whomever the organization appoints for carrying out the application process can also apply.
• The applying organization must belong to the Republic of Nigeria.

Fees

• Direct Broadcast Satellite (Single Channel): ₦10million
• Direct-to-Home (DTH) (Multichannel): ₦25million

Validity

• Initially, a license under this category is issued for a period of Five years.

Instructions

• It is important that the completed form must contain all the information required properly and the form must be filled legibly, in order to get accepted by the Authority.

• Make sure that you attach all the required documents as specified by the authority to avoid rejections.

• Once the full payment of license of fees has been done, the applicant company will be allocated with appropriate frequencies.

• Before beginning the full transmission, the broadcaster should invite the Commission for inspection and approval of its test transmission.
