Nigeria - Apply for NYSC Exemption Letter

Apply In-Person:
- To apply for a National Youth Services Corps Exemption Letter in person, the applicant needs to visit any of the National Youth Services Corps State Secretariat.
- The address and contact details of the NYSC State Secretariats can be found in the following link: Link
- Visit the office and obtain an application for a National Youth Services Corps Exemption Letter from the relevant department.
- Complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
- Once completed filling the application form, make sure that you attached all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Then, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office. Make the stipulated payment as directed by the officials.
- After submission, the application and other documents will be forwarded for examination and verification processes.
- Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the Letter at your institution.
- When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will be notified by the office and the applicant can collect it by any applicable means from his/her institution.

EligibilityEdit
- They should be over the age of thirty (30) years
- They should have served in the Armed Forces of the Federation or the Nigeria Police Force for a period of more than nine months; or
- They should be member of staff of any of the following:
- The Nigerian Security Organization or
- The State Security Service, or
- The National Intelligence Agency or
- The Defence Intelligence Service
- He has been conferred with any National Honour.
These categories of persons are therefore exempted from service and issued with the Certificates of Exemption.
Nigerian Graduates either home or oversea trained who have the stipulated qualification of (B.SC, B.A or HND) from approved or accredited Institution by (NUC, NTBE or NCCE) are eligible for Exemption Certificate however while foreign trained graduates must submit their Certificates at the Mobilization Department for Evaluation.

- It is important that the completed form must contain all the information required properly and the form must be filled legibly, in order to get accepted by the authorities.
- Make sure that you attach all the required documents as specified by the authority to avoid rejections.
- In case of foreign trained graduates, they must submit their applications at the Mobilization Department for Evaluation.
- Collection of Exemption Letters for home trained graduates is only done in the Institution of graduation and not in NYSC office whereas foreign graduates are advised to collect their Exemption Letters from the NYSC directorate headquarters at the stipulated time communicated.
