Apply In-Person:
- To apply Income Support for Workers in person, the applicant has to visit any local/regional office of the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development.
- The address and contact details of the offices can be found in the following Contact link
- First, the applicant has to call the toll-free number of his/her region which can be found in the link given above.
- On the other end, a Client Services Officer will gather the required information from the applicantto complete the telephone application and a preliminary eligibility assessment.
- If he/she found that the applicant is eligible for the Income Support, the completed telephone application form, checklist of documents required and other required forms will be made ready.
- The applicant should visit the corresponding office and collect these documents.
- Then, the applicant should complete the required forms and prepare the supporting documents. Refer the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After completing the application forms, attach the required documents and submit them together to the relevant authority at the local/regional office.
- The applicant can also send the application package to the mailing address of the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development, which can be found in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
- Or, the application can also be faxed to the following fax number: 709-729-2641.
- Upon submission of application and required documents, Departmental staffs review the application and documents.
- In case of any additional or missing information, the applicant will be contacted through the provided mobile number or email address.
- Once all the information is received, the application is thoroughly reviewed internally and assessed for eligibility and appropriate benefits.
- When an application is approved, payment by direct deposit, cheque, or Service Authorization is sent to the applicant, by any applicable means.
- When an application is not approved, a letter of notification is provided, including information on how to appeal the decision.

- To apply Income Support for Workers through mail, the applicant has to mail the application and required documents to the mailing address of the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development.

- First, the applicant has to download the application formsfrom the following links

- The applicant has to complete the forms as required with necessary details and information. Then, the applicant and his/her spouse (if applicable) must sign the forms.
- Make sure that all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page, are available.
- After completing the application forms, attach the required documents and send them to the mailing address of the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development office.

- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and live in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- The applicants should be receiving Employment Insurance or Canada Pension Plan before applying for Income Support.
- The applicant must be eligible for the Income Support in terms of the Income and liquid assets.

- Applicants, who are applying through mail, should read the Release Form carefully as their signature allows the Department to contact other agencies in order to verify information.
- The application is valid for 30 days and if required documents are not provided within that time, they may have to complete a new application. They will be advised if further information is required.

- Income Support benefits are considered as the last possible option for income. If there is potential for income from another source (for example, Employment Insurance or Canada Pension Plan), individuals must first avail of that before applying for Income Support.
