Procedure

For Learners

1. Go to a NSW Registry office. To find your nearest registry office, click this link: http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/index.cgi?action=motorregistries.form.
2. Pass the Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) again.
3. Pass the eyesight test.
4. Pay the normal learner license fee.

For Provisional Licenses There isnt a maximum time period for a driver to move through the licensing scheme. In other words, Provisional drivers can progress through the system at their own pace.

If your P1 or P2 license is due to expire before youve moved to the next step in the system, then you can simply renew your license. Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) will send you a renewal notice with all the info you need.

• Fill in the renewal form and head down to an Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) motor registry with your license, proof of identity (bank statement, phone bill etc) and some money to pay for a new license.

Driver Knowledge Test - $41 each attempt
Learner - $22

Validity

Learner licenses are valid for 5 years.
