ProcedureEdit

  • Before you can apply for your New Mexico drivers license you have to take the none for the Road self-study DWI awareness class.
  • Unless youre from out of state, youll need to take the road test. Make an appointment online, or by calling. Appointments can be made from 6 to 45 days in advance.
  • If you pass the test youll be given a temporary license, good for 45 days.
  • If you dont pass the test Make another appointment to come back and retake the test.
  • To receive the license you have two options: It can be mailed to you within 10 days. If you dont get it, call the office, or you can go directly to get it to the office.

  • New Mexico offers: Regular drivers license for passenger cars and pick-up trucks (Class W), Commercial Driver Licenses (Class A, B, and C) and Motorcycle Licenses (Class M).
  • If you are under 18 you have to apply for the learner's permit.
  • If you are between 18 and 24, you must complete a home-study DWI-awareness program, "None for the Road, before you can apply for your New Mexico drivers license. You also must pass vision, written and road tests and submit the required documents and fees.
  • If you are over 25 then the state doesnt require a drivers education class, but if you want you can take it anyway. And you also must pass vision, written and road tests and submit the required documents and fees.
  • You have to prepare for the written test by memorizing the Drivers Manual and taking the practice test too.
  • Unless youre from out of state, youll need to take the road test.
