Netherlands - Replace Lost / Stolen Residence Permit
ProcedureEdit
- If you have lost your certificate: You must immediately report the loss of your certificate to your local Police Station. The Police Report is one of the documents you will need to submit when you apply for a new certificate.
- You may apply for a replacement of your stolen or lost residence document in writing. A link is provided under "Documents to Use" section which you can use to download the form.
- Complete and submit the form together with all other required documents. Instructions on how you can submit your application can be found on the form. Note: All documents must be in Dutch, English, French or German. If this is not the case, you will need to have your documents translated by a translator sworn by a court and submit both translation and document. If you do not have the document translated in the Netherlands by a translator who is sworn by a Dutch court, but abroad instead, the translation also has to be legalised.
- Pay the application fee.
- Your application will be assessed. You can receive either one of these responses to your application:
- Your application for replacement of your lost or stolen residence permit has been granted. You will receive a decision stating that you will receive a new residence document. This replaced document will have the same end date as the one that was previously lost or stolen.
- Your application for replacement of your lost or stolen residence permit is denied. In this case, you will receive a decision which explains why you have not been granted a new residence document. You can register an objection against this decision. The decision also explains how to do this.
- After the IND has granted your application, the new residence document will be issued. This can take a couple of weeks after having received the decision. Once your document is ready, you will receive an invitation letter to come pick up your residence document at a regional IND desk region. The notification contains information about which documents you need to bring with you when you come in to pick up your document.
- On the new residence document you will again find your personal data, along with other information such as your V-number, your purpose of stay as well as the end date of your stay. On the residence document you will also see your employment status (arbeidsmarktaantekening). This status tells you whether and under which conditions you are allowed to work. If you have permanent residence, you are free to work without the need for a work permit (TWV).
- Before you leave the office make sure to check all (personal) data on the document. If they are, in any way, not correct notify the IND employee attending you at the IND desk immediately.
