Procedure

If your driver license is valid and it’s stolen or lost, then you would have to file a FIR with the local police station and the report is the vital document to apply for the duplicate driving license. If it is torn / stolen / mutilated then then remains can be attached for applying

Apply In-Person

1. To apply for a Duplicate Driver License in Nagaland the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

4. Application and Intimation of loss or destruction of driving license in Form LLD (can be obtained from respective RTO)
   
5. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
   
6. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying duplicate driver license
   
7. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application and issue the duplicate driver license and the satisfactory result of verifications

Apply Online

1. To Duplicate Driver License, the applicant has to use the following link – link
2. Select online services popup menu and select driving licence related services.
3. In the new page select the respective department.
4. After selecting the state, click on the “Duplicate Driver License” in main menu.
5. Now open change address application instruction and click “continues” button.
6. Enter driving licence number and birth date click on “Get DL details”. click it to show the driving licence details and click on “process” button.
7. Select the state name and RTO.
8. Now select the section of Duplicate driving license.
9. All the information is shown in the page. If it is correct click the “Confirm” button.
10. In the Next Page, the applicant needs to Specify why are the applicant are requesting for Duplicate Driving License
11. Then Download the Prefilled Application Form and Acknowledgement
12. And pay the adequate amount of fee in the online mode.
13. Submit application successful after the new address add in driving licence.

Validity

Validity of the license remains same.

Usually…

• Driving licence issued is valid throughout India.
• Driving licence is issued for 20 years or 50 years of age whichever is earlier.
• Driving licence issued for transport vehicle will be valid for three years.

Processing Time

Need for the Document

• A driving license is an official document that states that a person may operate one or more types of motorized vehicles, such as a motorcycle, car, truck, or a bus, on a public roadway.
  
• Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988 in India, no person can drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving License issued to him, authorizing him to drive a vehicle of that particular category.
  
• Driving without Driving license is an offense. Incumbent has to pay penalty
  
• In order to avoid unnecessary penalty and enquiry one has to get the duplicate driving license for the one they lost or damaged.
