Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain a Boarder Worker Visitor Card, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs link
2. Schedule an appointment at the Mexican consulate or embassy in the applicant's home country. The applicant can get the appointment by phone at (868) 622-1422, ext. 229.
3. The applicant has to visit the office on the appointment date.
4. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
8. The applicant must schedule an appointment with the INM to submit their application and supporting documentation by phone.
9. At the appointment, the applicant will need to provide their documentation and biometric information (such as fingerprints and a photograph).
10. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
11. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
12. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
13. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
14. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
15. The applicant will receive the visa through mail or by visiting the office.
16. This entire process can be completed within 5 -7 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Eligibility

• To be eligible for a Border Worker Visitor Card, the individual must be a citizen of a bordering country (such as the United States) and have a valid job offer from a Mexican employer located within 25 kilometers of the border.

Fees

• The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.

Validity

• The work visitor card is valid for 180 days.
