Apply In Person

1. To Obtain Authorization to Start Construction, the applicant has to approach the Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales. link
2. Develop comprehensive project documentation, including architectural plans, engineering designs, construction specifications, and other relevant details.
3. This documentation should demonstrate compliance with applicable building codes, zoning regulations, environmental standards, and any specific requirements set by the competent authority.
4. If your construction project is expected to have environmental implications, the applicant may be required to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment.

9. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
10. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
11. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
12. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
13. Then the application will be processed further.
14. Ensure that the applicant’s project complies with all relevant local regulations, building codes, environmental requirements, and safety standards.
15. This includes considerations such as structural design, fire safety measures, environmental protection, accessibility, and others applicable to the applicant’s specific construction project.
16. After a thorough review of the applicant’s project documentation and compliance with all regulations, the competent authority will make a decision regarding the application. If approved, the applicant will be issued the necessary permits and authorization to start construction in Mexico.
17. This entire process can be completed within 2 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
