Procedure

Following are ways using which you can apply for a driver license.

Apply through Director General Of Transport (Driver License Office)

1. Authority to contact : Transport Department Office (Driver License Office) in your area
2. Make sure you choose the office near by the place where you live.
3. Make sure you have the documents that are listed under the Required Documents section of this page.
4. You will have to take a theory test and a practical driving test which you have to clear it. The theory test will be in Spanish and, please make sure you have enough practise for you driving.
5. if you are successful with your theory and your practical test you will be provided with a Mexican driver license.
   
   

Apply through Driving School
You can approach a driving school in your area who can help you out in applying for a driver license. But they will charge you for the service they provide. Following is list of driving schools which you can get in touch with : Mexico Driviing School List

• Photo ID
  • Voting license
  • Passport
  • Military Primer
  • In the case of people from abroad, must present a passport and document proving their legal stay in the country
• PROOF OF ADDRESS
  • Water bill (It is valid or not exceeding 3 months *)
  • Receipt light (Electricity Bill) - It is valid or not exceeding 3 months *
  • Receipt of phone (It is valid or not exceeding 3 months *)
• MEDICAL CERTIFICATE
  • Issued by a health institute Red Cross
  • Issued by a health institute ISSSTE
  • Issued by a health institute IMSS

PERMIT FOR MINOR

• Birth Certificate
• Credential School with Photography
• Be at least 16 years
• Copy of official photo identification of parent or guardian.
• The parent or guardian must be physically present with the least responsive to sign the letter.
