Apply Online

  1. To apply for TR (Transport, Commercial) driver license, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
  2. In the portal keep your mouse over "Online Services" in the menu and select "Driver License Related Services".
  3. You will be directed to a new page where you have to choose the state name from dropdown.
  4. Next you will be directed to a new page where you have to select "Apply for Learner License". This has to be done becasue, if you like to upgrade your license, you have apply for learner license related to it and later proceed with the main application.
  5. In the next page, read through the instructions and click "Continue".
  6. In the new page, select category from dropdown and select the options appropriately .
  7. You many be requested to enter DL Number and DOB and make other selections. Please do things appropriately and click "Submit".
  8. You will be provided with the application form with some prefilled information. Please make selections and as you scroll down you will be able to see a box where you have to make selection to new add category. Please make selection appropriately and click "Submit" after making all selections.
  9. You will be requested to make the payment and your application will be processed.



Apply In-Person

  1. To Apply TR (Transport, Commercial) driver license in Meghalaya the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs.
  2. As a first step you have apply for LLR for that specific category.
  3. Application form can be downloaded using the following link: link.
  4. Please make sure you have all the documents to process the application
  5. Following application forms are required Form 8, Form 5 (only for those who trained through Driving School) and Form 15.
  6. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying (8th Pass, 1 Year Valid License)
  7. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices
  8. Present the completed application forms along with required documents in one of the counters and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  9. Applicant has to qualify the drive test. Applicant on successful completion of test drive will be asked to get photographed for the license copy. Applicant will get the License.

  • Valid Learner’s License for which additional class of vehicle is required.
  • Documents of vehicle in which applicant proposes to appear for test of competence to drive (such as Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate, Tax Card, Pollution under Control *Certificate, Fitness Certificate in case of Transport Vehicle).
  • Consent letter from vehicle owner, to conduct driving test in his vehicle if the vehicle is not owned by the applicant.
  • Passport size photographs-3 copies
  • Proof of address (Ration Card / Electoral Roll / Aadhaar Card)
  • Pay slip issued - Govt. Office (or) a Local Body
  • School Certificate, Birth Certificate
  • Affidavit Sworn by the applicant before an Executive (or) a First-Class Judicial Magistrate (or) Notary Public
  • proof of age (any one of the following to be produced)
    • Ration Card / Electoral Roll / LIC Policy / Aadhaar Card / Passport
  • Medical Certificate in the case of applicant age above 50 years.

EligibilityEdit


  • Applicant should have a valid one year old license, which can be called as one year of experience.
  • Qualification: Minimum 8th Pass
  • Should have local residential proof
  • Applicant should be minimum 20 years old

  • Valid for 3 years from the date of its issuance
  • Subsequently it can be renewed for a further period of 3 years and so on

Processing TimeEdit


  • Within 3 days
  • Once the document and application processed – the applicant will receive a serial number on the registered mobile number - then applicant have to attend the test
  • After completion of Driving test, the License will be issued on the same day or within a week’s time
  • Renewal can be obtained immediately

Need for the DocumentEdit


  • One need to get TR Driver License in ordered to drive commercial transportation including light goods carrier and passenger carrier, even if he has a valid driving license to operate two wheeler and car
  • TR Driver license is issued for eligible driver with valid one year old driving license
