Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for Private Carrier Inter State Goods Vehicle permit in Meghalaya the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.
  2. Please follow our “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page to get details of the RTO offices. Link for RTO contacts: Link for contact
  3. Application form can be downloaded using the following link: Application Forms and Parivahan Forms Link
  4. Make sure you have completed respective application form obtained directly from respective RTO
  5. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  6. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  7. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  8. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built, Capacity to withstand the load etc., will be carried by authorities.
  9. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed.

  1. Completed Application in Form for private Carrier Inter State goods Vehicle permit
  2. Application for the grant of authorisation is in Form 46 & 48. Link for form : Form 46Form 48
  3. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
  4. Fitness Certificate.
  5. Proof of payment of tax for the current Quarter.
  6. Insurance Certificate.
  7. Authorization in the bank draft.
  8. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
  9. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
  10. Demand drafts drawn in favor of the Authorities prescribed in respect of other states towards payment of composite taxes.
  11. Age Proof (any one of the following)
    • School Certificate
    • Birth Certificate
  12. Residence proof any one of the following
    • Electoral Roll
    • Ration Card
    • LIC Policy
    • Passport
  13. Aadhaar Card
  14. Pollution under control certificate
  15. Passport size photo-2

EligibilityEdit


  • Applicant should be the owner of the vehicle.
  • The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years for Goods Carriage National Permit.

  • No Fees

ValidityEdit


  • Valid to use the vehicle in applied routes
  • Permit is usually valid for 5 years
  • The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
  • The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit
NOTE: Validity differs with the type of vehicle and also for the load the vehicle can manage

Need for the DocumentEdit


  • Private carrier interstate goods vehicle permit refers to a company that owns the vehicles used to transport its own goods between two or more states.
  • A private carrier does not transport goods as its primary business and, thus, does not seek to transport the goods of other companies like a common carrier does
  • The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.
