Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To Take your Pet (Dog, Cat) on Holiday, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Argo Industry & Food Security link
2. Ensure that the applicant’s pet is properly microchipped and has identification tags with his/her up-to-date contact information. Microchipping is often a mandatory requirement for international pet travel.
3. Make sure that the applicant’s pet's vaccinations are up to date. Commonly required vaccinations include rabies and other essential vaccines. Some countries may have specific vaccination timeframes before travel.
4. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
9. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
11. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
12. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
13. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
14. Keep the applicant’s pet's health and safety a priority during his/her holiday. Ensure they have access to clean water, proper nutrition, and a comfortable environment.
15. Before leaving Mauritius, check the regulations for returning to his/her home country with his/her pet. Some countries have specific requirements for re-entry.
16. This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
