Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To Renew a Trademark, the applicant should make the application to the Industrial Property Office under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International. Industrial Property Office contact details through this Contact Details.
2. Visit the Industrial Property Office to obtain the application form for registration of a Trademark or download the form directly through this Application to renew the registration of a mark.
3. Read and complete the application as required and attach all the required supporting documents to the application form in a single file.
4. Then visit the Industrial Property Office and pay the requisite application fee according to the classification of the Trademark which is computed as follows: For one class: Rs 3150, for each additional class: Rs 1575. Note that the fee can be paid either by cash, credit card, debit card, or cheque payable to “The Government of Mauritius”.
5. Obtain the payment receipt.
6. Then submit the application file including the payment receipt to the official at the service desk.
7. The official will verify the application and check if all the required documents are attached and upon the verification process and if the application is complete as required, the official will issue the applicant with the acknowledgment receipt of the application.
8. Then the application will be forwarded for processing with the responsible authority at the office.
9. The application will be assessed by the respective Industrial Property official and if it meets the renewal requirement, the Trademark registration will be registered and the certificate of the registration will be sent to the applicant by post.

Instructions

• The application for Trademark renewal should be submitted at least six months before the expiration of the registration and a further period of 3 months, as from the date of expiry of the registration of a mark, may be allowed for the renewal of the registration subject to the payment of a surcharge fee of Rs 1050.
• If a registered owner fails to pay the renewal fee and the surcharge fee, as required, the registration of the mark shall not be renewed and the mark shall be removed from the Register as from the last expiry date of the registration of the mark
