Apply In-Person

  1. Any person who wishes to renew his/her Certificate of Registration to perform the Duties of Security Guards is advised to do so at least 21 days before the expiry of the Certificate of Registration.
  2. You should call (+230) 214 1387 (Private Security Section) or on (+230) 208 1212 (Police Exchange) in person on weekdays, during office hours, between 09:15 and 15:30 hrs. Or on Saturday, between 09:15 and 11:30 hrs and book an appointment.
  3. On the schedule appointment date, you are required to visit the Police Prosecution Office (Private Security Section), Sterling House, 10th Floor, Lislet Geoffroy Street, Port-Louis and express your interest at the service desk.
  4. Collect the application form from the front desk or click the link below Link (Application form {PDF doc})
  5. Fill out the application form and submit the completed form along with the supporting document (listed below) to be verified and processed.
  6. You will then be notified of the outcome via mail or phone, if your application is approved, you will be required to revisit the Police Prosecution Office, Private Security department on weekdays, during office hours between 09:15 and 14:00 hrs. Or on Saturday, between 09:00 and 11:00 hrs. With his/her NIC and Rs 500/- payment for the renew Certificate of Registration.
  7. Upon making payment of the registration fee, you will then be issued with the renew registration certificate immediately.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Birth Certificate; (original and copy)
  • Marriage Certificate; (original and copy} (applicable to married woman only)
  • National Identity Card; (original and copy)
  • Two recent passport size photographs.
  • A Certificate from a recognized training body as approved by the Commissioner of Police, showing that applicant has the appropriate training and skills to perform the duties of a Security Guard mentioning the duration of the training and bearing full name of applicant with his/her NIC No. (original and copy)
  • Medical Certificate (original) name should be clearly written by Doctor as per NIC with NIC Number and for married woman, maiden name to be inserted.
  • Prerogative of Mercy (original and copy) – for those who have been granted free pardon.
  • The expired registration certificate (original).
  • Any other documents requested by the Private Security department.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Any person who wishes to perform the duties of a security guard shall have to make an application for a Certificate of Registration to the Commissioner of Police in compliance with The Private Security Service Act 2004.
  • Such person registered with the Commissioner of Police are required to renew their registration certificate before expiring to keep on enjoying the incentive that came with registration.
