Mauritius - Obtain Registration Certificate to perform the Duties of Security Guards

- To apply for a Registration Certificate to perform the duties of Security Guards, the applicant should make the application to the Commissioner of Police under the Mauritius Police Force. Please view the Mauritius Police Force contact details through this Contact Details.
- First, the applicant should call the Police Prosecution Office - Private Security Section through their telephone number on 214 1387 to book an appointment for the application.
- Then the applicant should obtain the application form for the license from a police station or download the form directly through this Application form.
- Complete the application form as required and attach all the required documents as instructed in the application form or as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below in a single file.
- Then on the appointment date, the applicant should visit the Police Prosecution Office (Private Security Section) at the Sterling House, 10th Floor, Lislet Geoffroy Street, Port-Louis, during working hours to submit the application.
- The application will then be processed procedurally and if the application is approved, the applicant will be informed of the approval through his/her contact details.
- Visit the police Prosecution Office (Private Security Section) and pay the certificate fee at the cash desk and if the applicant’s badge is approved to the applicant will also pay the badge fee as mentioned in the “Fees” section below and obtain the payment receipt.
- Upon make paying the requisite fee, the certificate and the badge will be processed and issued to the applicant.

- Completed application form.
- Birth Certificate (original and copy).
- Marriage Certificate (original and copy) (applicable to a married woman only).
- National Identity Card (original and copy).
- Two recent passport-size photographs.
- A Certificate from a recognized training body as approved by the Commissioner of Police, showing that the applicant has the appropriate training and skills to perform the duties of a Security Guard mentioning the duration of the training and bearing the full name of the applicant with his/her NIC No. (original and copy)
- Medical Certificate (original) name should be clearly written by Doctor as per NIC with NIC Number and for a married woman, maiden name to be inserted.
- Prerogative of Mercy (original and copy) – for those who have been granted a free pardon.

Applicant should meet the following criteria
- A Person aged 18 years and above.
- He/she should be medically fit.
- He/she should have the appropriate training and skills to perform the duties of a security guard.
- He/she must have a clean criminal record.
FeesEdit
- The Certificate of the Registration fee is Rs (MUR) 500.
- Badge fee Rs (MUR) 250.
ValidityEdit
- The registration certificate is valid for one year from the specific date mentioned on the Certificate and renewable thereafter.
