Mauritius - Obtain Licence or Permit for Sale of Chemical Fertilizers

Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To apply for the license for the Sale of Chemical Fertilizers, the applicant should make the application to the Agricultural Chemistry Division under the Ministry of Agro Industry and Food Security​​. Please view the ministry’s contact details through this Contact Details.
2. Visit the ministry's office and obtain the application form for a License for the sale of Chemical Fertilisers at the reception of the Agricultural Chemistry Division or download the application form through this Application form.
3. Complete the application form as required and attach all the required supporting documents to the application form in a single file.
4. Then the applicant should visit the Ministry’s office and pay the necessary application fee at the cash desk of the office as mentioned in the “Fees” section below and obtain the payment receipt.
5. Upon making the payment, submit the application file along with the payment receipt to the official at the service desk of the Agricultural Chemistry Division.
6. The official will check if the application form is completed accordingly and verify the attached document.
7. If the application is completed as required, the officer will issue the applicant an acknowledgment receipt with the application details.
8. Then the division will schedule an inspection date to inspect the applicant proposed facility for storing the chemical fertilizers.
9. On the scheduled date, the government inspector from the Agricultural Chemistry Division will visit the applicant’s proposed facility and conduct the inspection according to the standards set by the division and the inspector will write a report of the inspection findings.
10. The inspection report will be submitted to the licensing committee of the Agricultural Chemistry Division
11. The committee will evaluate the report along with the application and if the facility meets the required merits for storing the chemical fertilizers and the application is completed as required, the application will be approved for licensing.
12. The applicant will then be informed of the approval in writing and required to visit the Agricultural Chemistry Division to collect the license.
13. The applicant should re-visit the Agricultural Chemistry Division office and issue the acknowledgment receipt to the official at the service desk.
14. The official will verify the receipt and issue you the license for the Sale of Chemical Fertilizers.

Eligibility

Fees

• The application fee for Wholesale Licence is Rs100 and for the Retail sale is Rs (MUR) 25.

Validity

• The license is valid for one year.

• If the application is not approved, the applicant will be notified in writing the reasons why the application has failed and may be direct to rectify the faults that lead to the dismissal of the application and reapply for the license.
