Apply In-Person:

  1. To Get Manufacturing Permit or License for Food Processing in person, the applicant should contact the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection link
  2. The Ministry will provide the applicant with the necessary forms and information required to obtain a permit or license.
  3. The applicant will need to fill in all the information on the application form.
  4. The application will require the applicant to provide contact information, business details, and a description of the food processing activities plan to undertake.
  5. The applicant should provide a detailed business proposal, a layout of the premises, and a list of equipment and materials used in the process and they can be found under the ‘Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. A fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
  7. Applicants should submit the form along with the necessary documents to the relevant authority in Mauritius.
  8. The Ministry will review the application and provide feedback on its contents.
  9. Then the applicant will be notified of the results within a few weeks after the reviewed and will be provided with further instructions at that time.
  10. Once the application is approved, the applicant will be informed by email or telephone to get the permit or license.
  11. Then the applicant should go to the relevant local authorities and the authority will be issued with a Manufacturing Permit or License and must comply with a range of regulations, such as health and safety regulations, environmental and waste management regulations, and quality control regulations.
  12. Generally, the processing time ranges from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the application and the availability of the necessary documents.
