Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To apply for a Taxi License, you should make your application to the National Land Transport Authority (NLTA). Please view the NLTA contact details through this link NLTA Contacts.
2. The applications for the taxi license are made when applications are invited in the press and you meet the criteria laid down in the advertisement.
3. Upon publication and if your meet the required criteria, call the NLTA through their contact number and request the application form.
4. After the call, visit the NLTA office and collect the application form, complete the application form accordingly and attach all the required supporting documents.
5. Go to the NLTA office and pay the application fee of Rs.300 at the cashier and obtain the payment receipt.
6. Submit your complete application along with all the supporting documentation to the official at the service desk.
7. The official will check your application to confirm is it correctly completed and confirm if you have provided all the documents and then you will be issued with the application acknowledgment receipt.
8. Your application will be assessed further by the authority and then the authority will invite you for a hearing regarding your application.
9. Once the authority is satisfied that the application is complete, you will be informed through your contact details.
10. After receiving the information, call the NLTA licensing section for conditions of implementation.
11. Pay the prescribed fees and then the license will be issued to you.
