- To apply for a student visa, the application should be made to the Passport and Immigration Office by the respective tertiary educational institution or Technical and Vocational Educational and Training (TVET) institution where the student is enrolled. - As the applicant of the student visa, visit the Passport and Immigration office and obtain the application form from the front desk of the office or download the application form through the Passport and Immigration website Application to entre Mauritius
- Then gather and prepare all the required documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the application form in a single file.
- Then visit the Passport and Immigration Office and pay the prescribed application fee at the cashier and obtain the payment receipt.
- Upon the payment, submit the application file along with the payment receipt to the official at the service desk.
- The official will receive the application and issue you the applicant an acknowledgment receipt with the application details.
- The application will then be forwarded to the responsible officials at the Passport and Immigration Office.
- The officials will assess the application and all the provided documents to determine if the application is completed as required. Note that if the documentation is incomplete, the application will not be processed.
- If the application meets the required merits, the Passport and Immigration Office will approve that application for processing.
- Then the Passport and Immigration Office will inform the applicant of the outcome of the application. That is the tertiary educational institution or TVET institution where the student is enrolled.
- Upon the notification, the Passport and Immigration Office will then issue permission for a provisional entry permit valid for three months to the student to enable him/her to travel to Mauritius.
- Once the student arrives in Mauritius, the student will undergo a series of medical examinations and obtain a medical certificate.
- The Medical certificate will then be verified by the Passport and Immigration office and if the student is suffering from HIV, Hepatitis B, or chest infection, his/her provisional entry permit would be cancelled and he/she would be required to leave Mauritius within two weeks.
- If the medical certificate does not reveal any contagious or infectious disease, the Passport and Immigration Office will advise the student to go to the Residence Permit Section for the issue of a Residence Permit for the duration of the study program in Mauritius.

Required DocumentsEdit
- Form application to Enter Mauritius duly filled in and signed by the applicant.
- Two recent passport-size photographs of the applicant.
- Photocopy of the bio-data pages of the passport of the applicant.
- Original letter of admission in a recognized educational establishment or TVET institution.
- Details of the duration of the course and confirmation from the Tertiary Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority that the chosen course is full-time or part-time.
- Documentary evidence of the availability of funds or financial capacity to meet costs of study and stay in Mauritius.
- A medical certificate certifying that the applicant is not suffering from any contagious or infectious disease. A test for HIV, Hepatitis B, and a chest X-ray should be done at any private medical laboratory/clinic/hospital in Mauritius and the tests results and Chest X-ray report should be submitted to the Passport and Immigration Office not later than one month after arrival.
- Any other document request by the immigration office.

EligibilityEdit
The following categories of persons are eligible for Student Visa:
- A non-citizen enrolled on one or more programs in a recognized tertiary educational institution or TVET institution to follow on a full-time basis specific modules for one semester or two, a course leading to a certificate or diploma for a duration of a least one academic year.
- A non-citizen enrolled in a recognized tertiary educational institution to follow a full-time or part-time degree course at the undergraduate level.
- A non-citizen enrolled in a recognized tertiary educational institution to follow a full-time or part-time course at postgraduate levels (including Masters, MPhil, or Doctoral level).
- A non-citizen carrying out post-Doctoral research.
- A non-citizen coming to Mauritius on an exchange program not exceeding one year with a recognized tertiary educational institution.

- At the beginning of each subsequent academic year, the educational institution should submit documentary evidence to the Passport and Immigration Office to confirm that the student is pursuing his studies under the same program.
