Apply Online:

  1. To Apply Online for the Mauritian Diaspora Scheme in person, the applicant should go to the Economic Development Board website link
  2. On this page, read the charges applicable for the freeport fees, and then under “Login”, if they are a registered user, enter the applicant login name and password to access their account.
  3. If they are not a registered user, click on the hyperlink under “New user” i.e., “Click here to create account” to go to the registration page.
  4. A page will open where the applicant needs to enter their email address and password and click on the “SUBMIT” button to send their registration application.
  5. The system will automatically register the applicant and they will receive a pop-up notification with this information “Registered successfully. The applicant kindly check email for login credentials.”
  6. Go to their email account and open the email from Economic Development Board to view login credential.
  7. Then go to the Occupation Permit or License Management page and log in to the applicant account using the registered credentials i.e., Login Name and Password link
  8. Once logged in, the applicant will be directed to the Digital Application Form for Mauritian Diaspora Scheme.
  9. Fill in the application form accordingly and upload all the required supporting documents as instructed in the application form and they can be found under the “Required Documents” section of this page and then click on the “Submit” button.
  10. Upon successful submission of the application, an email will be sent to their account with the application details. Applicants can also view the application details in their online account.
  11. The application will be verified by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the EDB to check if the application is completed as required and if they have provided all the required documents.
  12. Upon the verification process, if their application is deemed to be complete, the CEO will refer their application to the EDB board with recommendations, observations, and comments.
  13. The board will review their application and the observations from the CEO and the board may Reject their application, or refer the application to the CEO, or Approve the application on terms and conditions that are appropriate for certification.
  14. If the application is approved by the board, the applicant will receive an email notification with the approval letter subjected to the terms and conditions issued by the board via email.
  15. The applicant needs to print the approval letter and contact the EDB to get the Mauritian Diaspora Scheme.
  16. A fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
  17. Generally, applications can take several weeks to process. This timeline can be affected by the number of documents submitted, the accuracy of the information provided, and the availability of the necessary supporting documentation.
