InstructionsEdit

In most small towns or local municipalities, a police clearance certificate can be obtained fairly easily at the local police department.

To avoid bureaucracy and delays, try to obtain the letter from a smaller local police department (neighborhood, municipality, borough, etc.) rather than from the police department of a large city or state.

If your local police department refers you to a larger records department at a city or state level to obtain the letter, they might be confused about the kind of letter that you need.

Please note that this letter is not related to an FBI background check, nor should any police departments fee for the letter (where applicable) be very high.
