Apply In-PersonEdit
- To apply for termination of vehicle permit in Manipur the applicant has to approach the RTO office or permit issuing state/regional transport authorities of the area.
- Information related to the RTO offices and permit issuing state/regional transport authorities can be obtained from the “Office Locations and Contacts” Section of this page.
- Applicant will have to submit application on plain paper to RTO in charge stating the reason for surrendering the permit.
- Application for surrender of Permit and clearance certificate can be obtained at the RTO.
- Application should be submitted to appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Your permit should be valid at the time of termination, or else you will be imposed a penalty for the same.
- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
- Once the permit is surrendered, N.O.C is issued by the transport department.

- A permit other than a temporary permit shall remain effective for a period of 5 (five) years. Once you get it terminated, it will be effective till you reapply for fresh permit and get it granted.

Q. What is a permit?
- Ans: Any vehicle which is to be used for carrying goods or passengers for Commercial purpose essentially requires the permission (permit) of State Govt. under the provisions of M.V. Act, 1988 and rules framed there under. Permits are issued by State Transport authorities to control and to regulate operation of commercial vehicles.
