Procedure

1. Before you apply for a business licence, make sure that you have the following documents ready:
   1. A copy of Certificate of Registration
   2. A copy of passport showing his BRP/PRP
   3. A copy of Certificate of Registration for VAT
2. You will also need to complete an application form which you will need to submit to an officer in the Department of Trade together with all other required documents.
3. Pay the licence fee which is K 60,000 plus the application fee of K800.
4. The officer in the Department of Trade will prepare a form which will need to be approved by a senior officer. Once approved your licence will be issued, it will be valid for that particular financial year.

Need for the Document

As stated in the Business Licensing Act Cap. 46:01, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issues several types of licenses to the business community. The licenses include; Agents licence, Auctioneers, Commercial Travelers, Travel Agency, Forwarding Agents, Wholesale and Retail licences.
