ProcedureEdit

  • A prospective student with a Certificate of Eligibility from a Liberian school can apply for a *Student visa at a Liberian consulate in his/her home country.
  • The student must be physically present in order to apply.
  • After a student has been accepted to a school, the school will issue a Certificate of Eligibility form.
  • The school will complete this form. This form is the school's official statement to the Liberian government that the student has
    • submitted all the correct documentation to the school,
    • meets the qualifications for admission to the school
    • has been admitted for a full time course of study.
  • Once the student gets in touch with the consulate, he/she will have to complete the visa application:
  • This Application Form is used to ensure that while the foreign student is in the Liberia, he/she will not become a public charge.
  • The person who signs the Application Form on behalf of the foreign student is called the "sponsor". By signing Form, the sponsor agrees to assume financial responsibility for the foreign student in the event that the student becomes unable to meet his/her living expenses.
  • Supporting documents are only one of many factors a consular officer will consider in your interview.
  • Consular officers look at each application individually and consider professional, social, cultural and other factors during adjudication.
  • Consular officers may look at your specific intentions, family situation, and your long-range plans and prospects within your country of residence.

Each case is examined individually and is accorded every consideration under the laws of Liberia.

Need for the DocumentEdit

Prospective students applying for a student visa or academic programs visa should start contacting schools at least a year before they plan to start their studies. Most students submit between five and ten applications to many schools. Before applying for a visa, all student visa applicants are required to be accepted and approved by their school or program.

Once accepted, educational institutions will provide each applicant the necessary approval documentation to be submitted when applying for a student visa. You must have a valid passport from your country of citizenship in order to travel to Liberia. Students generally can apply for a student visa up to 90 days before registration will begin at their school. Considering processing delays, it is better to apply as soon as possible within that 90-day period. Some consulates do accept student visa applications before the beginning of the 90-day period, to allow time for security clearances and other delays.

Students have to contact the local consulate in there country of origin regarding its application procedures. Many consulates insist on advance appointments. Just getting an appointment can take several weeks, so applicants should plan properly.
