ProcedureEdit
- Apply for a passport at the immigration office
- Get an application form which must be endorsed by someone who has known you for over a year and not a family member
- Fill in the application form
- Submit all the required documents
- Pay the application fee.
- Passports can not be issued at an embassy applicant have to travel to Kiribati to apply
Required DocumentsEdit
- A recent passport-sized photo of yourself
- A certified copy of your birth certificate
- A certified copy of any change of name recorded in a register kept under any law (if applicable)
- A certified copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable)
- A certified copy of the decree absolute for your divorce (if applicable)
- A certified copy of your certificate of registration as a citizen of Kiribati (if applicable)
- A certified copy of your certificate of citizenship by naturalisation (if applicable)
- A copy of your drivers licence (if any)
- Proof of payment of the application fee

EligibilityEdit
The following are eligible for a Kiribati passport
- Born in Kiribati, and at least one of parents was a citizen of Kiribati at the time.
- Born outside Kiribati, and my father was a citizen of Kiribati at the time.
- Born in Kiribati and, although neither parent was a citizen of Kiribati, they did not become
- A citizen of any other country at birth.
- Registered as a citizen by the Citizenship Commission
- Naturalized as a citizen

- An application for an official passport must be endorsed by the senior officer of the applicants organization
- Passport collection can be done by any authorized person as long as their name appears on the application letter as the authorized person
- Passport can be mailed to the applicant at an additional fee passport can only be sent to the home address of applicant

Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
In a foreign country, a passport is the only way that I almost can prove (nationality, name, age, etc.) and who one is. Therefore, in a foreign country, passport will be required in various places unlike when you are in the country. More specifically,
- when the immigration, such as in airport
- when you check in to a hotel
- when using a (travel checks) travelers checks
- when asked to present identification from such police officers
