Apply In-Person
- Application in Form : link Or in writing can be submitted in-person or send via speed post or registered post to the concerned Public Information Officer (PIO) in English or local official language.

- Pay the prescribed fee, The citizen will be issued a receipt on submission of the application - containing application no., date, and details of the concerned Chief Public Information Officers.
- With in 30 days you will get the information. If information is given by third party then invite objections, if any it will take 10 more days extra.
Online procedure - Kerala Apply for Right To Information (RTI) Online With Images
- Please use the following link which would take you to the below displayed screen. Please visit the following link : Online Portal. User shall select the “Submit Request” menu. A new page will be provided. Please go through the details and click select “I have read and understood the above guidelines.”
- In the new screen user shall complete the sessions Public authority details, Personal details of RTI Applicant, Request details as per the page prompt. If the applicant belongs to below poverty line and all the details are completed as appropriate, then hit “Submit” tab to file your RTI online.
- If the applicant doesn’t belong to below poverty line, then select the option as appropriate. A new set of prompt will be provided. Please complete the prompt to make the necessary payment. Please hit “Make Payment” tab. In the resulting screen, please follow the screen prompt and please hit the right tab to submit the application.
- On submission of the application, a unique registration number would be issued, which may be referred by the applicant for any references in future

- Publications: actual cost.
- CD: Rs.50/- per CD.
- Inspection: Rs.10/- for first hour and Rs.5/- for every 15 minutes or part thereof thereafter.

Processing TimeEdit
- Information requested by the citizen is to be provided within 30 days
- 48 hours where life or liberty is involved
- 35 days where request is given to Asst. PIO
- 40 days where third party is involved and
- 45 days for human rights violation information from listed security/ intelligence agencies.
- Time taken for calculation and intimation of fees excluded from the time frame.

Under the Act, all authorities covered must appoint their Public Information Officer (PIO). It is the PIO's obligation to provide information to citizens of India who request information under the Act. If the request pertains to another public authority (in whole or part), it is the PIO's responsibility to transfer/forward the concerned portions of the request to the concerned PIO.

The Right to Information Act (RTI) is an Act of the Parliament of India "to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens"
Provisions of the Act, permits any citizen to request information from a "public authority" (a body of Government or "instrumentality of State") which is required to reply expeditiously or within thirty days. The Act also requires every public authority to computerize their records for wide dissemination and to pro-actively publish certain categories of information so that the citizens need minimum recourse to request for information formally.
