Apply In Person
- To apply for a Temporary Licence for Foreign Doctors, the applicant should make the application to the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC). Please view the Kenya medical practitioners and dentists council contact details through this KMPDC Contact Details.
- The applicant should obtain the temporary registration application form at the KMPDC office or download the application form directly through this Application form for temporary registration as a medical or dental practitioner (Form XVIII).
- Then the applicant should complete the application form correctly and obtain all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below.
- Then the applicant should pay the registration fee of Ksh. 20000 through payment details provided in the “Fees” section below and attach the payment receipt to the application file.
- Then the applicant should email the complete application dossier to the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council through this email address: [email protected]
- After receiving the application, the council will evaluate the application to determine if the applicant meets the standard requirement for the registration.
- Upon the evaluation process and the applicant meets all the required standards, the council will register the applicant and send the registration license to the applicant.

- Colored passport size photo.
- Certified copies of professional and academic certificates (translated by the respective Embassy).
- Evidence of passing Council’s pre-registration examination, Peer Review Certificate.
- Duly filled, stamped, and signed Internship completion Assessment Forms if applicable.
- Evidence of registration or practice license from country of origin.
- Certificate of status by the regulatory body from country of origin.
- ECFMG Certification.
- Registration Fee payment receipt.

- The registration fee is Ksh. 20000.
- All payments should be made at any KCB Branch countrywide to Council’s account No. 1103158643, Milimani Branch. SWIFT CODE: KCBLKENX, BANK: KCB, BANK CODE: 01175
ValidityEdit
- The license is valid for such period as shall be determined by the council, subject to a maximum period of twelve (12) months, and subject to renewal upon expiry.

InstructionsEdit
- Graduates from the East African Partner States (EAC) who qualify from approved medical and dental schools are however exempted from Board exams under EAC Boards/Councils Reciprocal Recognition.
- Foreign-trained doctors who possess qualifications equivalent to MBChB and BDS from the University of Nairobi are required to sit Council exams to determine their eligibility for either registration or internship training.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A medical practitioner needs to be licensed with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council to practice medicine in Kenya. It is an offense to practice medicine in Kenya without a valid license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
