Apply In Person

  1. The request for an East African Community (EAC) Certificate of Origin shall be made to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) - Rules of Origin Section.
  2. During the application for the EAC certificate of origin, applicants are required to provide the unique registration number provided in the KRA registration letter and attach it to the KRA-PIN certificate. Please refer to Wikiprocedure website for the full procedure,i.e. Kenya - Obtain a KRA Registration Letter.
  3. The applicant is issued with a KRA payment authorization slip, indicating a certificate fee of Ksh 366.17, payment can be made via mobile banking (Mpesa) or bank deposit. Please refer to the “Fees” section of this page for more information.
  4. Clients who pay using mobile money platforms will use the transaction code as proof of payment, which will be written on the F147 form, along with the number of certificates issued to the client.
  5. The applicant is required to share proof of payment of the applicable fee with the KRA - Rules of Origin Section and is issued an EAC Certificate of Origin Application Form to complete. The certificate of origin application form, should be typed and not handwritten.
  6. Applicant should then submit the typed application form, attached to all the supporting documentation as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page, to the KRA - Tariff & Rules of Origin Section for processing.
  7. Upon receipt of the complete application file, the KRA officer shall authenticate the EAC certificate of origin before issuing it to the client.

  • KES 366.43 - For issuance of the certificate of origin is charged.


Payment methods: Mobile money platforms

  • For payments via MPESA, MPESA Paybill No: 572572, and the A/C name will be the F147 number.



ValidityEdit

  • The validity of the EAC Certificate of Origin shall be mentioned on the document and shall remain valid for that stipulated time unless suspended, cancelled, or evoked by the Authority.
  • The certificate is issued per consignment.
