Kenya - How to Apply for Registration of Training Providers With The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA)

Apply In-Person

  1. To be registered as a Training Provider with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), the applicant should make the application to the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).   2. The applicant should visit the NITA office and obtain the application form registration of NITA training providers or download the form directly through this link APPLICATION FORM FOR REGISTRATION AND RENEWAL OF NITA REGISTERED TRAINING PROVIDERS.
  3. Once the applicant obtains the application form, the form should be completed clearly with all the required details provided.
  4. Then the applicant should obtain all the required supporting documents and attach both the original copies and duplicates of the documents to the completed application form in a single file.
  5. The applicant should then pay the required non-refundable application fee of Ksh.12,000 through the following bank details “NITA KCB Account No.1102588075 Industrial Area Branch” and obtain the payment receipt.
  6. Upon making the payment, the applicant should submit the complete application file along with the application fees payment receipt to the NITA office at the registration service desk.
  7. After applying, NITA will verify and certify the copies of the supporting documents as true copies of the original documents.
  8. Once the documents are verified, the NITA will schedule a date for physical inspection at the applicant’s premises of operations.
  9. On the scheduled date, an inspection team from NITA’s office will visit the applicant’s premises and conduct a due diligence inspection to confirm if the premises meets the required standards for training.
  10. upon the inspection, the assessment team will write a report of the inspection’s findings and submit the report to the NITA for review.
  11. Then NITA will review the report and if it is determined the applicant qualifies to be registered as a training provider, NITA will approve the application which is usually within 40 days.
  12. Then NITA will communicate to the applicant in writing the registration status within thirty days of the inspection.
  13. If the applicant is registered, the applicant will be provided with the NITA’s registration certificate. Note that the Registration will be valid up to the 15th of March of the following year.


Note:
  • If the applicant does not qualify for registration, the applicant may appeal to the Director-General within thirty days of receiving the written notification at no cost and a second appeal will attract a payment of a non-refundable application fee.
  • Any subsequent appeal will require the applicant to appear before the Director General’s Committee upon payment of the required non-refundable fee and the decision of the committee shall be final.
  • All appeals shall be made in writing.

EligibilityEdit

Applicants should meet the following eligibility criteria.

  • The business/organization must be locally registered or incorporated.
  • If registered under the Business Name Act (Cap 499), the name must reflect the training functions and the physical address on the certificate must tally with the application form.
  • If incorporated under the Company Act (Cap 486), the Memorandum & Articles of Association should explicitly state training as a core business.
  • If registered under any other Act, the Constitution must reflect training as one of its aims and objectives and must establish and incorporate a training entity with its own full-time Chief Trainer and resource persons.
  • Organizations established by an Act of Parliament for purposes other than training but mandated to carry out training must establish and incorporate a training entity
  • The entity should have its own full-time Chief Trainer and resource persons.

ValidityEdit

The registration is valid for one year and it can be renewed thereafter.
