Kenya - Change of Trade Name for Pest Control Product

Apply In-Person:

  1. To change a Trade Name for a Pest Control product the applicant has to make an application to the Pest Control Products Board (PCPB). This can be done by contacting the Pest Control Products Board (PCPB) offices to make the application.
  2. Here the applicant will be given an Application for Change of Trade Name for a Pest Control Product- Form A9 by a PCPB officer to fill and submit.
  3. Fill in the application and attach the required documents. A list of the required documents can be found under the Required Documents" section of this page. These include: -
    • An original consent letter from the manufacturer/principal
    • A copy of the draft label as per PCPB requirements
    • Proof of licensing as a dealer with Pest Control Products by PCPB
    • Evidence from Kenya Intellectual Property Institute (KIPI) that
    • Any other information as may be required by the Board.
  4. The applicant should also submit the following to the Pest Control Products Board (PCPB) offices for inspection.
    • A sample of the technical grade of its active ingredient
    • A sample of the laboratory standard of its active ingredient
  5. Proceed to pay the required application fees and attach the payment receipt to the application document. Details on the application fees to be paid can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  6. The applicant should submit the completed application form, requirement, samples for inspections and payment receipt to the PCPB officer for inspections, verifications and approval.
  7. The board will review the application regarding any areas of noncompliance with the application requirements which the applicant is required to address. In addition, the board conducts a sample inspection to ensure that they are up to required standard.
  8. Upon successful review and approval of the application the applicant will be issued with a permit to use the new name.
  9. The whole process usually takes 14 days to complete.

  • The application must be submitted to The Managing Director/Secretary of Pest Control Products Board (PCPB)
  • Every application must be accompanied by: -
    • An original consent letter from the manufacturer/principal
    • A copy of the draft label as per PCPB requirements,
    • Proof of licensing as a dealer with Pest Control Products by PCPB
  • The applicant shall be required to submit a sample of the pest control product;
  • The applicant may be required to submit:
    • A sample of the technical grade of its active ingredient;
    • A sample of the laboratory standard of its active ingredient;
    • Any other information as may be required by the Board.
  • Evidence from Kenya Intellectual Property Institute (KIPI) that the new trade name is available for use.
