Kenya - Apply for a Clerical Job in the Public Service Commission

ProcedureEdit

  • Applications can only be done once a clerical vacancy has been advertised by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
  • You can check the PSC Website for Vacant clerical positions.


Apply Online

  1. All first-time users of the Online Recruitment and Selection system are required to register on the Online Platform. This can be done by visiting the Public service commission’s online platform through the following Link
  2. Here the first-time applicant should click on the Not Registered? Click here to register link so as to begin the registration process.
    • Provide the required information to continue your registration. The required information include: -
    1. ID / Passport Number,
    2. Surname,
    3. current Email address
    4. a password to access the system.
  3. Upon registering , please log in to the online platform through the following link. Once on the platform login using your ID Number and Passport Number then clicking on the “Login” button.
  4. Proceed to click on the “Apply for Jobs” link on the dashboard and scroll down to the clerical position advertisement and click on the “Click to Apply” link to begin the application process.
    • Applicant MUST ensure that they have all information pertaining to personal details, professional and academic qualifications, experience, membership to professional bodies, referees and any other relevant information is provided before submitting the application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  5. Upon giving all the required information click on the “Submit” button to submit your application.
    • Upon clicking on the submit button a copy of the application summary will be generated. Applicants are advised to print and keep a copy of the Feedback Report (application summary) by clicking on the Report tab or Application Summary link on the Application Menu.

  1. The Online Recruitment and Selection system allows applicants to amend/revisit their application(s) at any time BEFORE the Advert Closure Date.
  2. Wait for the shortlisting process to be completed. In the mean time you can check the status of your application through the following link. check status of your application
  3. Only successful candidates are contacted after the shortlisting.


Apply In-Person

  1. Applicats wishing to apply for a clerical position with the Public Service Commission of Kenya can do this in person by making an application directly to the commission.
  2. This can be done by picking an application form in Person from the Commission House, or download the Application for Employment form from the Public Service Commission website which can be accessed through the following link. Application for employment form PSC2
  3. Fill the application form indicating clearly the position you want to apply for; In this case “Clerical Position”.
  4. Send the duly filled application form together with the required documents to the PSC headquarters. This can be through one of the following means:
    • By post
    To The Commission Secretary,
    P.O. Box 30095-000100,
    Nairobi, Kenya.
    • By courier services to commission house, or
    • By hand delivery to the Commission House in Harambee Avenue, Nairobi Kenya
  5. Wait for the shortlisting process to be completed.
  6. Only successful candidates are contacted after the shortlisting. This will is mainly through a telephone call.

EligibilityEdit

The minimum requirements for a clerical job are:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C (Plain) or its approved equivalent
  • Passes in Proficiency Examination for Clerical Officers
  • Computer application skills
  • Any other qualification that may be approved by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of State for Public Service.

Processing TimeEdit

  • The process depends on the government’s urgency of filling up the position, but it normally takes a period of three months for shortlisting and for interviews to be carried out.

InstructionsEdit

  • One can apply for a job only when the commission has advertised a vacant clerical position.
  • Serving officers should first register their personal profiles on the commissions website before making the application for a job online.
  • The shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce their original Identity cards, academic and professional certificates and testimonials during interviews.
  • Serving officers will be required to produce the original letter of appointment to their current substantive post before the interview.
  • Complete all sections of the application form as appropriate in BLOCK letters and submit to the Secretary, Public Service Commission.
