Apply In-Person

  1. To obtain a Duplicate Bus Contract Carriage Permit in Karnataka the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO offices: Contact link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. The processing time for this procedure takes up to 10 - 15 days.

  • “contract carriage” means a motor vehicle which carries a passenger or passengers for hire and is engaged under a contract on a fixed or an agreed rate or sum –
    • On a time basis with reference to any route or distance
    • From one point to another
  • Contract Carriage Permit is the most common type of permit granted for transport vehicle for the purpose applied for (Public transport / transport under contract)�One cannot operate his vehicle without this permit in the allowed route.
  • If the permit is lost, stolen, damaged or misplaced then one need to apply for a duplicate permit for the vehicle.

  • It is advisable to go to the Regional Transport Officer / State Transport Authority between 9:00am to 5:00pm.
  • FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities.
