To obtain electricity connection for their premises, one has to apply at the respective electricity board/company office of their respective area.
“Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited” (KPTCL) is the electricity regulation board operating within the state of Karnataka.

  • In Karnataka, ESCOMS Carry out the business of distribution and retail supply of electricity in their respective areas as mentioned below.
  1. BESCOM (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited) has been entrusted with distribution of power to the districts of Bengaluru Urban, Kolar, Tumkuru, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, and Davanagere.
  2. MESCOM (Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited) has been entrusted with distribution of power to the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chickmagalur, and Shivamogga.
  3. HESCOM (Hubli Electricity Supply Company Limited) has been entrusted with distribution of power to the districts of Dharwad, Gadag, Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Uttara Kannada, Haveri, and Belagavi.
  4. GESCOM (Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Limited) has been entrusted with distribution of power to the districts of Ballari, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Koppala, Raichuru, and Yadgir.
  5. CESC (Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation) has been entrusted with distribution of power to the districts of Mysuru, Chamrajanagara, Mandya, Hassan, and Kodagu.


Apply Online:

BESCOM :
  1. To apply online, please follow the below steps..
  2. Go to the online portal portal link and click “Apply online for LT New connection / other services” tab at the bottom to reach the next page for applying online.
  3. A new screen to apply online based on area will be provided. Please select “Apply here” option against “RAPDRP AREA” or “NON-RAPDRP AREA” as applicable to get new page.
  4. In the given respective page please select “New Connection” under Apply online section OR “LT New Connection” under Apply online section.
  5. Applicant will get online application form page. Please provide all the details as per prompt as appropriate and click“continue” button at the bottom. Applicant shall furnish the other set of details prompted in the next page too and press “Continue” button. In the last page please select/enter the prompted details and click “Submit” button to submit the online application.
  6. Please save the acknowledgement receipt for the submitted application. Keep it safe for future reference.
  7. This submitted application will be processed further. Notification from department (through SMS or over phone) for further process will reach applicant.
  8. Applicant shall go to the respective office with the printout of application along with other documents and follow the guidelines to get the connection.

HESCOM :
  1. To apply online, please follow the below steps..
  2. Go to the online portal portal link and click “New application & online payment”option tab at the right part of the screen for applying online.
  3. Applicant will be directed to the respective page and please select “New Application and Online Payment for NON-RAPDRP Towns (RURAL AREA)”
  4. A new page will be provided. Please select “New Connection ››” option as listed. Here please select “LT New Connection” under Apply online under Online services.
  5. Applicant will get online application form page. Please provide all the details as per prompt as appropriate and click “continue” button at the bottom. Applicant shall furnish the other set of details prompted in the next page too and press appropriate button and process the resulting page prompts as app;licable and hit the respective button to submit the online application.
  6. Please save the acknowledgement receipt for the submitted application. Keep it safe for future reference.
  7. This submitted application will be processed further. Notification from department (through SMS or over phone) for further process will reach applicant.
  8. Applicant shall go to the respective office with the printout of application along with other documents and follow the guidelines to get the connection.

GESCOM :
  1. To apply online, please follow the below steps..
  2. Go to the online portal portal link and Hit “Apply for new connection” tab at the bottom of the page as listed to reach the page for applying online.
  3. In the new page please select “Customer login” option under “login” section on the right part to reach customer login page. In the new screen please click “Customer registration” option.
  4. A new screen for customer registration prompts user to fill in the details and register.
  5. Now go back to customer login page. Please login with credentials by following the page requirements as appropriate.
  6. A new screen will be provided. Please complete the page prompts as applicable and click appropriate option to get next set of information or details to be processed. Please process and progress to submit the application online by selecting appropriate button.
  7. Once all the steps are over, user has to submit the online application by hitting appropriate tab.
  8. Please save the acknowledgement receipt for the submitted application. Keep it safe for future reference.
  9. This submitted application will be processed further. Notification from department (through SMS or over phone) for further process will reach applicant.
  10. Applicant shall go to the respective office with the printout of application along with other documents and follow the guidelines to get the connection OR can process payment and document submission online using the application id.

Apply In-Person:

  1. Go to your area local Electricity office personally and consult with the authority for your need. They will suggest you with the correct main/division office to contact and apply for Electricity (EB) connection.

  3. Go to the respective office (Sub Division) and meet the respective authority with the available documents. On their advice, collect the form and initiate the process to apply.
  4. Applicant shall obtain the form from the respective office (please pay for the form if required) Or can download the form from the following link:
  5. Once the application is filled, then submit it along with required document to the concerned authorities (The Executive Engineer / Assistant Engineer / Junior Engineer) at the respective office. (must include licensed electrical contractor intended to do wiring)
  6. Authorities will verify the submitted documents, if all the documents are in place then authorities will advise the customer to pay the fee for this procedure.
  7. Applicant shall follow the authorities guidelines.
  8. Once the payment is made, a receipt will be issued to the applicant. Keep it safe for future reference.
  9. This application will be subjected for internal processing and a technician will inspect the premises on a scheduled date at the presence of applicant.
  10. At the end of the survey, technician will mark the place for meter to be fixed and also entry of supply mains and other equipment to be fixed. He will also fill the survey report.
  11. If the report shows feasible condition to provide supply, then applicant gets intimation about the sanction.
    • In case applicant fails to comply within a period of three months from the date of power sanction, the power sanction as well as registration shall stand cancelled. Besides, the registration fee paid will be forfeited.
    • If the report shows non feasibility, applicant will be asked to bear the extra cost for providing viable condition as advised by department.
  12. Now approach the office to get the charges for service line, initial security deposit, cost of metre/metering equipment etc.,. Make appropriate payment and obtain the receipt along with application number.
  13. Once all the above said procedures are over and complete, the electricity department/company will issue the work order.
  14. Thereupon the concerned Junior Engineer/Assistant Engineer will arrange to provide the power supply.
  15. Pole will be installed, Applicant has to submit the Test report with the help of licensed electrical contractor followed by provision of Electrical connection.

  • High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) are two different supply categories

  • Proof of ownership (Sale deed, katha, succession certificate, sanctioned plan from local authority.)
  • Indemnity Bond as per format supplied by the electricity company, if you are not the owner of the premises
  • No objection certificate (NOC) from the owner(If the applicant is tenant or lessee)
  • Proof of permanent residential address (Ration card, PAN, telephone Bill, Insurance policy bond, voters identity card etc.)
  • Clearances for establishment from the Pollution Control Board concerned where applicable .( residential / residential-cum-commercial premises of more than 100 flats)
  • Self- certification for electrical installation of the premises of the consumer for which new connection is being applied for or the test results duly signed by the licensed Electrical Contractor
  • Requisite Earnest Money as advised
  • Proof of occupation or ownership of a premises through any one of the documents (Passport / Voter Identity Card / Rent Bill / Telephone Bill / Municipal or any other Tax Bill / Ration Card / Certificate from Panchayat)
  • The detailed list of electrical equipment’s with number and corresponding wattages
  • For LV & MV consumers, a sketch of new line required for service connection showing the premises from existing LV & MV line is required to be submitted by the intending consumer. (licensed electrical contractor will be helpful)
  • NOC from local administration (assessment and collection department - no due & litigation free)
  • NOC from respective department for digging (if applicable)
  • Test Certificate of metering equipment, if consumer supplies the same.
  • Land Paper
  • Aadhar Card
  • Photograph of the applicant
  • Contact number
  • Consents / Authorizations / Approvals wherever applicable.
  • Service Connection Agreement, if applicable.
  • Consent of the owner of the property if the proposed service line has to pass through the property of some other persons.

  • The owner of the proposed property for which the supply is required
  • If the applicant is not the owner of the premises for which supply is required, then he or she should produce a consent letter from the owner of the premise
  • If the owner is not available or not intended to give consent letter, then the applicant should provide.
    • proof of his/her being in lawful occupation of the premises
    • execute an indemnity bond in the respective Form
    • acceptance to pay security deposit twice the normal rate.

InstructionsEdit

  • The lawful owner / occupier of premises can apply for the new electricity connection.
  • The applicant should apply in the respective form at the respective office
  • After load survey, he/she will be given quotation for payment of charges which includes Service connection charges , Service Line Charges, Security deposit etc.
  • After payment of above charges the consumer will submit a Test report from the Licensed electrical contractor for the wiring.
  • The service connection will be released as per the chronological order.
