Procedure

Apply Online

1. To apply for a sugar export permit, you have to submit your application online through the Electronic Single Window portal (Jamaica Single Window for Trade) JSWIFT. Visit the JSWIFT website: - JSWIFT website and login to submit your application online, and if you don’t have a JSWIFT account, please view wiki-procedure: “Jamaica-How to Register on The Jamaica Single Window for Trade (JSWIFT) As an Individual” to see how to create your account.
2. Once in your account under the Dashboard, click on the “Permit” and then select “New” to go to the online application form.
3. Under General Information, click on the “Regime” box and select “Export”.
4. Complete the providing the general information as required and click on the “Next” to go to the “Items Details” page.
5. Click on the “Process Type” box to find “Sugar export permit” and then complete providing the required details and click on the “Next” button to go to the Attachment page.
6. Attach all the required documents as instructed and then click on the “Next” button to go to the fees page.
7. On the fees page, you will see the summary of the permit’s fee and then click on the “Submit” button.
8. You will receive a pop-up notification informing you that your permit application was submitted along with the permit application registration number.
9. To complete the payment process, go to your dashboard and click on the “Accounting” drop menu and then click on the “Payment Order” and select “New” to go to the payment order page and pay the permit’s fee using the online system.
10. After payment, your application status will be updated to paid and the application will be forwarded to the relevant certification officer at the Trade Board Limited (TBL).
11. The officer will assess the application to ensure that it complies with the standard requirement for the sugar export permit.
12. Then the Trade Board Limited (TBL) will conduct due diligence including inspecting your premises of operation to make sure that you comply with the required standards and update the application results as either, Approved, Rejected, or Request updates.
13. You will also be notified of the application results through your email address and if the application is approved, you will be sent a print out of the sugar export permit.
14. Print the permit and sign it then visit the Trade Board Limited (TBL) office to get the permit authenticated.
15. Submit the permit to the certificate officer at the TBL service desk, who will authenticate the permit by signing and stamping it then return it to you.

Note that:
if your application is rejected, you will receive a notice of the rejection and if you are required to update the application for it to be processed, you will receive a notification with the conditions you must satisfy for the application to be completed.
