Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. The organization in charge of clearing items and goods arriving in Jamaica is the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA), please view the JCA’s contact details through this link: Link
2. If you are 18 years or older, you are entitled to a duty-free allowance of USD 500 for personal and household goods either if they are accompanied or unaccompanied luggage, however, a person below 18 years is not entitled to the UDS 500 allowance, but they are allowed their items.
3. Now, if you have unaccompanied personal items, use the red channel in the Customs Passenger Terminal and inform the Customs Officer at the service desk
4. Submit the required documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below to the customs officer for verification
5. The official will verify your documents and calculate the total charges of the items
6. If the charges exceed the duty-free allowance, you will be required to pay the excess value after deduction of the allowance
7. Upon payment, you will be issued the payment invoice and your items will be released to you with the relevant customs documents
