ProcedureEdit

Apply Online

  1. All Imported motor vehicles must be cleared by a licensed customs broker through the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) electronic system called Electronic Single Administrative Document (e-SAD) on the ASYCUDA System. You can view the JCA’s contact details via this link:Link
  2. To use a licensed customs broker to clear the imported motor vehicle, obtain form C73 for authorizing the broker to work on your behalf. The form can be obtained from the JCA’s office or their website:Link (C 73 - Authorization Of A Person To Act On Behalf Of Another) or you can download the form C73 directly via this link:Link
  3. Complete the form correctly and visit the JCA’s office and pay the processing fee of the form at the cashier and then submit the complete form to the customs official at the service desk for processing
  4. Once the authorization is processed, your customs broker can proceed with the clearing process of the motor vehicle
  5. The agent will log in to the ASYCUDA World system:Link to complete the import declaration of the motor vehicle
  6. Once in the system, the broker will complete the declaration using the e-SAD ensuring that all the required data is provided correctly and all the supporting documents are attached
  7. Upon confirmation that the application is complete, the broker will pay for the declaration either using the online payment system i.e., the Advance Deposit Account facility, whereby the broker will enter the account number in the e-SAD and the system will check that there is enough balance available for paying all duties, taxes, and fees. Then the broker will request to assess the e-SAD using the ASYCUDA world system.
  8. Upon assessment of the declaration, the system will display the customs reference number assigned to the e-SAD as confirmation of positive allocation of data into the system. And the system will automatically pay the required fee
  9. If the payment is to be made by cash, the broker can print the assessment notice and submit it to the cashier at the customs office and pay the required fee
  10. Upon payment, the AW system will determine if the import requires inspection or not as required by the rule of risk assessment. If the AW system allocates a green lane, it means that the import does not require inspection, however, if the system allocates a red or yellow lane, the import will have to be inspected by a customs officer
  11. Once the import has been inspected, the customs inspector will forward the inspection report to his/her supervisor who will review the report and if there is a problem with the import, the supervisor will re-route the e-SAD to the “Query” lane and a notification will be sent to the broker detailing the issues that need to be completed regarding the clearance
  12. If the report states that the import is fit and there are no problems with it the supervisor will clear the e-SAD and re-routes it to green
  13. Upon a successfully re-routing to green, the Customs Officer grants release to the motor vehicle, which in turn generates the Release Order to be used by the Terminal Operator
  14. The terminal operator will then generate the gate pass and allow your imported motor vehicle to exit the custom controlled area
