Apply In-Person
- To apply for the Waiver of Crown Rights, you need to go to the office of the Administrator General’s Department. Please view the Administrator General’s Department contact details through this link: - Administrator General’s Department contacts.
- Prepare a petition for a waiver of crown rights. Note that you can use the help of an experienced person to assist in preparing the petition for example a lawyer.
- Obtain and complete the Statutory Declaration and Letters of Administration from the Administrator General’s Department.
- Prepare the rest of the supporting documents i.e., Death certificate, Birth certificate, and Marriage certificate if applicable.
- Visit the Administrator General’s Department and submit the petition for a waiver of crown rights along with all the required supporting documents.
- Upon receiving the petition, the Administrator Genera will conduct an investigation and confirm the assets of the deceased.
- Then ministry of Justice through the Administrator General’s Department will refer the petition along with the investigation report to the Attorney General for an opinion and determination.
- The Attorney General will assess the petition and make a ruling on the petition, and convey his advice to the Administration General’s Department.
- If the Attorney General rules in your favor, the relevant document will be sent to the Administration General’s Department so that the respective instruments may be prepared for the Governor General’s Seal and signature.
- The Administrator General will inform you of the outcome of your petition through your contact details.
