Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for the Certificate of Origin in Jamaica, you should go to the Trade Board Limited (TBL). Please view the TBL’s contact details through this link:Link
  2. Obtain the product analysis form from the TBL office or download it directly via this link:Link
  3. Read and complete the product analysis form as instructed
  4. Prepare the required supporting documents and information, for example, Import entry C78, Commercial Invoice to verify the cost, origin, and type of raw materials.
  5. Then submit the complete product analysis form along with the required supporting documents to the TBL
  6. Upon receiving your application, the TBL will schedule an inspection date for your premises
  7. On the scheduled date, a TBL inspection officer will visit your production facility to verify the analysis or information you provided and to ensure conformity with the outlined production process.
  8. After the inspection of the facility, the TBL will inform you in writing if the product qualifies for preferential treatment, under which agreement(s), and the origin criteria
  9. Once your product analysis has been approved, the TBL will process and issued you the Certificate of Origin


Apply Online

  1. To apply for the certificate of origin online, you have to submit your application through the Electronic Single Window portal (Jamaica Single Window for Trade) JSWIFT
  2. Visit the JSWIFT website:Link and login to submit your application online, and if you don’t have a JSWIFT account, please view wiki-procedure: “Jamaica-How to Register on The Jamaica Single Window for Trade (JSWIFT) As an Individual” to see how to create your account
  3. Once in your account, complete the online application form for the certificate of origin and attach all the required documents the submit the complete application for verification
  4. Upon submission, the application will be verified by the responsible JSWIFT administrator who will also assign the application a unique reference number and notify you of the successful registration and other appropriate details through your email address
  5. Then pay the application fees online using the online payment option in the JSWIFT portal
  6. After payment, your application status will be updated to paid and the application will be forwarded to the relevant certification officer
  7. The officer will assess the application to ensure that it complies with the rules of origin requirement. At this point, the Trade Board Limited (TBL) will conduct due diligence including inspecting your premises of operation to make sure that you comply with the origin required standards and update the application results as either, Approved, Rejected, or Request updates
  8. You will also be notified of the application results through your email address and if the application is approved, you will be sent a print out of the certificate of origin
  9. Print the certificate of origin and sign it then visit the Trade Board Limited (TBL) office go get the certificate authenticated
  10. Submit the certificate to the certificate officer at the TLB, who will authenticate the certificate by signing and stamping it then return it to you
  11. If your application is rejected, you will receive a notice of the rejection and if you are required to update the application for it to be processed, you will receive a notification with the conditions you must satisfy for the application to be completed
