Iraq - Replace Lost / Stolen Passport

- You must immediately report the loss of your passport to the nearest police station. You will need to submit the police report when you apply for a new one.
- Apply for a replacement passport by completing an application and submit it together with all other required documents to the Passport Office.
- Pay the application fee.
If you are outside Iraq:
You may use the link provided under "Office Locations & Contacts" to get in touch with the nearest Embassy of Iraq in the country you are currently staying. The Embassy's consular section will process your request to replace your lost or stolen passport.
- To obtain a replacement passport, you will need to complete an application form.
- You will need to submit the completed form together with a letter you obtained from the Police Department after you have reported your passport as lost or probably stolen. The letter must include your passport number and date of entry. Lost of passport should be publicized in a local newspaper.
- You will be asked to write down your testimony before the consul about how you lost the passport with all information concerning the lost passport, the document will then be signed by the consul.
- Your application will then be forwarded to the Directorate of Passports to obtain approval for the issuance of a new passport.
- The Consular Department will inform all Iraqi missions abroad about the loss of the passport for the purpose of informing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the countries they are accreted in, to prevent use by suspect parties.
