Apply In-Person:

  1. The applicant has to reach out to National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) for the application. Contact details are mentioned in “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page. Or here is the Contact Link
  2. An application form is also available at the following Link
  3. The applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
  4. Applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the form and attach the photocopies of the documents that are needed along with the application form before submitting.
  5. The fee for this procedure has been mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
  6. An application must be received by NMFS not after June 15.
  7. A non-profit organisation that wishes to represent a specific ECC as an ECCO must first file an Application to Become an Eligible ECCO and have that application accepted by the Regional Administrator before acquiring QS or IFQ by transfer.
  8. IPQ permits are issued annually to eligible persons who hold Processing Quota (PQS).

EligibilityEdit

  • An eligible crab community (ECC) is an Alaskan community, not a CDQ community in Western Alaska, where historically 3 percent or more of any CR crab fishery was processed.
  • The applicant, who joined a crab harvesting cooperative, must apply to ensure that they are listed on the cooperative’s application(s) for annual crab harvesting cooperative IFQ permit.
