Idaho - Apply for Driver License

- Get an application from your local driver licensing office.
- Fill the application properly and attach all the documents mentioned below.
- If your application is accepted, then you will be called for a vision screening test.
- If you wear glasses or contact lens during the screening, a lens restriction will be placed so that you must always wear your glasses or contacts when operating the vehicle.
- Next, you will be tested on your knowledge of traffic laws, highway signs by shape and symbol, traffic signals, pavement marking, and equipment required on motor vehicle.
- A skill test will also be conducted to check the ability of the person applying for a license.

- Download the application form for getting driver license.
- Fill in the application form and attach all the valid documents.
- After screening, you will be called for vision screening, written knowledge test and skill test.
- You can also check for the status of the license if all the tests are over.

EligibilityEdit
You may not be able to obtain an Idaho driver's license if you are:
- Not a resident of the state of Idaho
- Not lawfully present in the United States
- Under the age of 15
- Under the age of 17 and has not completed the requirements of Idaho's graduated driver's license program
- Under the age of 18 and is not enrolled in school or has not completed school as required in Section 49-303A, Idaho Code
- Holding a suspended, revoked, or canceled status in Idaho or any other jurisdiction
- Adjudged as an habitual drunkard or addicted to the use of narcotics
- Adjudged as suffering from mental incompetence that would affect a person's ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and who at the time of application has not been restored to competency
- Afflicted with any physical or mental condition which brings about momentary or prolonged lapses of consciousness or control
- Required to take an examination and has not passed the examination

- 3-year (age 18 to 21): $25.00

You may renew your license up to 25 months before its expiration date.
The validity of the license will depend on the requirement and the fees paid e.g. a driver license will be valid for 8 years for a person aged between 21 and 62, if $55 is being paid.

- Renewal is required up to 25 months before the expiration date.Your vision will be checked, and if the examiner thinks it is necessary, a skills test, visual examination, and/or medical examination may be requested.
- You have to notify any address change not more than 30 days so that your qualification or suspension for the license shall be received by you. It also allows law enforcement personnel to notify you or your family if there is an emergency.

To those applying for an Idaho Driver's License, you must surrender any drivers license or ID card issued to you from another state, U. S. Territory, Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia. You do not need to surrender a drivers license issued in a foreign country. However, once you are issued an Idaho drivers license, you are not allowed to use or show your foreign license for the purpose of operating a motor vehicle. If you are applying for an Idaho Commercial Drivers License (CDL), you must surrender any license(s) issued to you by any jurisdiction(s).
