Procedure

For renewal of stage carriage permit, the applicant has to obtain the vehicle fitness certificate to process further. This certificate is issued by authorities after checking the built and condition of the vehicle.

Apply In-Person :

1. To renew for Stage Carriage Permit in Himachal Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office
2. Application in HP Form St. S.A. is required. Application forms can be obtained from the following link : Form
3. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
4. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
5. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
6. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit includes vehicle condition, seating arrangements etc; will be carried by authorities.

Apply through Centres:

1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. An application form can be obtained through the kiosk operator upon visiting the centre.
4. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
5. The operator will process the application online.
6. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
7. Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page and collect the receipt.
8. After the application form is processed, an enquiry officer will make a thorough verification regarding the documents submitted along with the form.
9. Collect the acknowledgment slip after submitting the form.
10. The applicant will get the license in a stipulated period of time.

2. Valid Stage Carriage permit that is going to expire.
3. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
4. Fitness Certificate.
5. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
6. Insurance Certificate.
7. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
8. Pollution Under Control Certificate
9. The resolution of the RTA
10. Route permits book, all in original.
11. Parking area certificate issued by any gazette officer/Police officer/Revenue authority of the area.
12. Recent copy of Map along with Form-F of the land housing the parking facility.
13. No objection certificate of the tenant if the vehicle is intended to be parked on the land of tenant other than the vehicle owner.
14. Aadhaar card

Validity

1. The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
2. Usually Permit is valid for 5 years. The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit

Stage carriage permit is granted by the Chairman, State Transport Authority.

7. Route or routes or the area or areas to which the application relates
8. Minimum and maximum number of daily trips
9. Time-table of the normal trips
   

Need for the Document

1. The stage carriage permit needs to be renewed before the validity of the permit lapse to ply the vehicle for the service.
2. The need for Stage Carriage Permit arises with the requirement to operate trips in a route / area for carrying passengers with stages (Stops).
3. The Stage Carriage Permit allows holders to service an area with a specific route. The permit also mentions the type of vehicle that is granted permission to operate, the approved timetable, the number of trips it can make in a day and standard rate of fare it can charge.
4. No person shall be entitled to apply for the grant of a new stage carriage permit or for the renewal of a stage carriage permit, if the number of stage carriage permits already held by such person is not less than ten
