Eligibility

• Obtained a valid drivers license
• Resident of Hawaii
• US Citizen
• Owner of a previously registered vehicle

Fees

It is based on the vehicle weight and usage. This is computed by the Division of Motor Vehicles, Licensing and Permits.

Validity

Registration records of all vehicles in Hawaii must be updated annually.

Instructions

You must renew your vehicle registration on the last working day of the expiration month of the current registration. However, if the registration expiration date occurs on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the delinquent renewal penalty fee will not be charged until after the next working day.

• Current address

Need for the Document

You have to renew your vehicle every year. Be vigilant in having your registration renewed so that you will not additionally pay for any fine or penalties.

Information which might help

For those availing the renewal by mail make sure that the check you paid bears a sufficient fund. Otherwise, there is a $25.00 service fee for returned checks.
