Procedure

Apply In-Person

• To apply for National Tourist Vehicle Permit in Gujarat the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

• Application form can be downloaded using the following link: Application form
  
• Make sure you have completed application form 46 & 48. Link for form: Form46, Form 48
  
• Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  
• Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down under the “Required Document” section of this page.
  
• Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  
• After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, seating arrangements etc; will be carried by authorities.

Apply Online

1. To apply for national tourist vehicle permit, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
2. In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
3. The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
4. Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
5. The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
6. Please follow the steps to complete the application.

2. Valid Insurance
   
3. No objection certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
   
4. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
   
5. Aadhaar Card
   
6. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
   
7. Fitness Certificate of the vehicle.
   
8. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
   
9. Insurance Certificate.
   
10. Passport size photo-2
    
11. Pollution under control certificate
    
12. PROOF OF ADDRESS ( One of the following to be produced)
    
    • Ration Card / Aadhaar Card / Electoral Roll / LIC Policy
      
13. Age Proof (any one of the following)

Validity

• Permit is valid for 5 years. The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO.
  
• The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit.

Need for the Document

• Tourist Permit means a document issued by a Transport Committee authorizing the use of a transport vehicle as a private carrier / public carrier .
  
• The business of renting of motor cabs to persons desiring to drive either by themselves or through drivers need to get the tourist Permit .
  
• Based on the capacity of the vehicle the number of passenger eligible to board varies as 4 passenger + 1 driver, 7 passenger + 1 driver etc.

• It is advisable to go to the Regional Transport Officer / State Transport Authority between 9:00am to 5:00pm.
  
• FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
