Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. Applicant who would like to Suspend or Cancel a license of a Electrician should contact the customer service centre of electricity company of Ghana or energy company in Ghana contact link
2. Information related to the AMA office and the License authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
3. Visit the office and obtain an application form for Suspension or Cancellation of Electrician License or Permit from the relevant department.
4. Make sure that the applicants has all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Complete the application form with required details and the information in the respective fields and sections.
6. Attest it with the applicant’s signature and attach the required documents with the completed application form.
7. Submit it to the relevant authority at the office and pay the Application and license Processing fee as directed by the officials.
8. After submission, the application will be assessed and attached documents will be verified as required.
9. The Commission may vary, suspend or cancel the licence of any licensed electrician upon being satisfied that the licensed electrician has contravened any of the provisions of the Rules 10 of the Electric Power (Electrical Installation Work) Rules, 2006.
10. The Board may vary, suspend or cancel the licence of any licensed electrician upon being satisfied that the licensed electrician has contravened any of the provisions of the Rules of the Electric Power (Electrical Installation Work) Rules, 2006. Where the Commission suspends or cancels the licence of any licensed electrician it shall remove his name from the register of licensed electricians for the time being licensed under the Rules of the Electric Power (Electrical Installation Work) Rules, 2006.
11. Upon the variation, suspension or cancellation of the licence of any licensed electrician under Electricity Act , the Commission may by written notice to such licensed electrician, disqualify him from holding a licence or a particular type of licence for such period as the Board deems fit.
12. Before exercising its powers under the Electricity Act, the Commission shall by notice in writing afford the licensed electrician whose licence it is proposed to vary, suspend or cancel an opportunity of appearing or being represented before it to show cause why the Commission should not exercise its power under the Rules of the Electric Power (Electrical Installation Work) Rules, 2006.
13. The processing time for this procedure is 3 or 5 days.
