ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Renew Registration Certificates of both Ghanaian and Foreign NGOs in Ghana, the applicant must go to the non-Profit Organization secretariat or Register General Department.
  2. Address and contact details can be found in the following contact link or Contact link
  3. Visit the office and the applicant must obtain the renewal application form.
  4. Applicant must fill the all the information in the application form.
  5. Please make sure that the applicant has all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  6. Submit the completed form along with the supporting documents to the respective office.
  7. This application will be processed and information will be verified.
  8. If all the above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the application form will be viewed by concerned authorities and the applicant will be notified regarding their license.
  9. After getting the notification from concerned authorities, the applicant can visit the office to collect their renewal license.
  10. If there is no information regarding the application, then, the applicant can visit the office to know the status of the application.
  11. The Processing time for this procedure is 1 month.

  • A recommendation letter from the Resident District Commissioner from the area they were operating in to confirm their operations.
  • Annual Report.
  • Financial Report (Audited Accounts).
  • Minutes of Annual General Meeting, plus the attendance signed by all people present.
  • A Work Plan and an itemized budget
  • Identity proof of the applicant

  • Foreign and indigenous Ghanaian established non-government organisation (NGO) who wants to renew their registration certificate in Ghana is eligible.



FeesEdit

  • Renewal fee of USD$50. (Foreigners)
  • Renewal fee: 40,000 GHS. (Ghanaian)



ValidityEdit

  • The registration certificate is valid for 3 years.

  • The names of the directors
  • Particulars of Directors and Secretary (including names, nationality, age, residential address, and designation).

  • Organizational title.
  • NGO Certificate Number
  • Signature of applicant



Need for the DocumentEdit

  • An NGO needs to be registered for it to carry out its objectives in Ghana. After registration, the NGO is given an operating permit, which allows them to operate in Ghana.

  • The Non-Governmental Organizations Co-ordination Board is a State Corporation established by the Non-Governmental Organizations Co-ordination Act of 1990. The Board has the responsibility of regulating and enabling the NGO sector in Ghana.
