Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew Radio Commercial Broadcasting License-FM in Ghana, the applicant must visit the National Communication Authority or Ministry of Communications.Contact link or contact link.
2. Applicant must go to the national communication office in Ghana and obtain the renewal application form.
3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
4. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
6. Submit the completed form along with the supporting documents to the respective office.
7. Upon receipt of the application file, the receiving officer will verify, if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the application file for assessment and consideration by the NCA Registration and certificate Board.
8. Applicants will be required to pay the application fee as mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page and obtain an acknowledgment slip as proof of submission of the application.
9. The application will be processed as per the information and documentation provided, that is why applicants are advised to provide sufficient information to enable the NCA to evaluate the business/company and make its decision.
10. Notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the application will be communicated to the client as pre preferable mode (in writing /phone/email/ in-person).
11. The certificate will be granted if NCA certificate board is satisfied with the applicant’s ability to deliver on its proposed business plan.
12. If approved, the applicant will be required to produce a proof of identity document and the acknowledgement slip, while collecting the certificate, at the NCA head office where the application was lodged.
13. The Radio Commercial Broadcasting License-FM Renewal certificate shall be subject to such terms and conditions as the NCA Licensing board deems fit to impose in each case, and such terms and conditions or requirements shall be endorsed on the renewal certificate.
14. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is 30 working days.

Eligibility

• Any person(s) or company, society, and partnerships registered in Ghana, who have a Radio Commercial Broadcasting License-FM, can apply for a licence.

Fees

• Application fee for this procedure is GHS 1000.

Validity

• The license is valid for 2 years and renewable thereafter.
